More details have been revealed by P&O Cruises of their upcoming flagship, Iona.

The magnificent domed-glass roof is an attraction in itself and the main feature of the two-deck pool and relaxation space. It’s designed to “bring the outside in” and provide a public space to enjoy in all weathers. P&O Cruises Senior Vice President Paul Ludlow said “with stunning views of the ocean by day and of starry skies at night, I’m confident that this extraordinary venue will prove popular with our guests.

During the day, decks 16 and 17 are laid out with sun loungers and reclining chairs for ultimate pool-side comfort. The area is the ultimate entertainment hub, also offering a boutique four-screen cinema: Ocean Studios will provide premium-style seating with a range of classic films as well as the latest blockbusters.

At night, the swimming pool transforms into a stage, becoming the heart of a lively entertainment venue with guest DJs, immersive aerial shows, deck parties and a “hidden” nightclub: 710 Club is a stylish live music venue with Covent Garden atmosphere that music and cocktail lovers will really enjoy.

The glass dome roof has been designed by British engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, the designers behind London’s Embassy Gardens Sky Pool and Bulgari’s flagship New York boutique.

Iona is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. Bookings open in September 2018 for her 2020 debut.
