MSC Cruises’ MSC Meraviglia completed her MSC Grand Voyage from Kiel, Germany to New York, USA today and became the biggest ship to ever visit and dock in Manhattan, New York.
The 171,500 GRT 5,600-passenger cruise ship sailed into Manhattan in the early hours of the morning and will stay in New York overnight before leaving on October 8th tomorrow.
MSC Meraviglia will now undertake three 10-night voyages to Canada and the East Coast of the US before she makes her way to her winter homeport of Miami, Florida.
MSC Meraviglia will then offer 7-night roundtrip alternating Caribbean itineraries until April 2020 including calls at the brand new MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve which is due to open on November 9th 2019.
MSC Meraviglia was the first ship to offer the unique Cirque du Soleil at Sea with two unique shows performed in the $50 million USD purpose-built theatre at the rear of the ship.
“We are so thrilled to welcome MSC Meraviglia, a truly beautiful ship, to the U.S. as she marks another major milestone for MSC Cruises in the North American market,” said Ken Muskat, EVP & Chief Operating Officer of MSC Cruises (USA). “Due to significant demand, for the first time in MSC Cruises history, we now have four distinct ships sailing in the region as MSC Meraviglia joins MSC Seaside, MSC Armonia and MSC Divina. With each ship offering its own unique design and guest experience inspired by our European heritage, we look forward to providing travelers with even more choice and variety to best fit their vacation needs.”
MSC Meraviglia is the first of the Meraviglia Class ships, with her younger sister MSC Bellissima currently undertaking her Maiden Mediterranean Season, she will be repositioning to Dubai and the Emirates in November 2019.
