Sapphire Princess (Princess Cruises)

Overview

Sapphire Princess was the second of two Gem-class ships by Princess Cruises, she was the second Gem-class ship to be built in Japan instead of Italy. Gem-class is a modification of the original Grand-class design.

She primarily sails all year round from her homeport in Shanghai, China. She will be moved to Singapore during the winter months when Majestic Princess arrives in 2017.

Trivia

Sapphire Princess was the second Gem-class ship to be built without the “spoiler” across the rear of the ship. This design wasn’t used anymore as it creates a drag on the ship and increases fuel usage by around 4-5%.
