MS Volendam (Holland America Line)

MS Volendam is one of four R-class ships. The theme for the ship is gardens and flowers. This can be seen throughout the ship with many fresh flowers on display each day. At the heart of the ship is an elegant sculpture by Luciano Vistosi, inspired by the myriad of moods and colours of a kaleidoscope and stands tall in the three-storey atrium to greet passengers.

MS Volendam spends the summer around the Alaskan region, home-porting in Vancouver. In the winter she moves over to Asia with roundtrip cruises originating from Singapore and Hong Kong to Japan and other Far East locations.

On 9 March 2016 she witnessed a Total Solar Eclipse in the Makassar Straight while sailing through Indonesia as part of an extended tour of Asia, hosting a number of astronomy groups and eclipse followers.
