Overland excursions are an industry-first in New Zealand, allowing guests to embark on a multiple-day adventure on land to rejoin the ship at a later port. One of these new overland trips includes a world-class stargazing experience on Great Barrier Island, one of four Dark Sky Sanctuaries in the world.

Nearly 100,000 cruise passengers visit New Zealand with Princess Cruises, making them the number one operator in the region. The popular itineraries have been said to attract more repeat bookings than any other Asia-Pacific cruise. As such, the cruise line has expanded their range of shore excursions for guests through their global Local Connections Program that secures exclusive partnerships with local experts to provide only the best travel experiences. Local expert partners will share with cruisers, their favourite food, beverage and cultural recommendations in every port, providing an authentic and unique view on local life.

The New Zealand launch of Princess’ Local Connections Program, that has proved its success across the world, is a sign of the cruise line’s commitment to sustainable tourism and supporting local economies.
