Holland America Line has announced the godmother of their newest ship MS Nieuw Statendam as none other than Oprah Winfrey.
Philanthropist, film star and TV icon Oprah Winfrey will soon be adding Godmother to her list of titles. She will even be on board for a special event called the Girls’ Getaway Cruise from January 30 to February 2 in 2019.
The cruise will set sail from Fort Lauderdale, sail to Half Moon Cay and then spend a day at sea before returning to Florida. Guests booked on this cruise will have the opportunity to attend one of Oprah’s three complimentary appearances on board “Conversations with Oprah” where she will share personal stories and give advice to help you live your best life.

MS Nieuw Statendam is currently under construction in Italy and will make her maiden voyage across the Atlantic on December 5, 2018, from Rome to Fort Lauderdale. Winfrey will officially christen the Nieuw Statendam in a private ceremony in early 2019 (date TBC).
