Nieuw Statendam moves closer to December 2018 launch
Holland America’s newest ship, Nieuw Statendam, the second ship in the Pinnacle-Class, has just completed sea trials. She’s due to debut in December 2018.
Nieuw Statendam is currently under construction in the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Italy where she sailed from for the first time, to complete her two-day sea trials.
Sea trials are an important stage in ship-building and Nieuw Statendam is one step closer to being completed with her new seaworthy status.
Following the sea trials, Nieuw Statendam has gone back into drydock for further assessment and regular hull maintenance. She will also be fitted out with cabins, public spaces and receive her final touches before delivery in December 2018.
The ship will be almost identical to her sister MS Koningsdam who has the same design with some exclusive public spaces that are totally new for the HAL fleet.
Nieuw Statendam will set sail for the Caribbean during the Winter season before repositioning back to Europe for Northern Europe, Iceland and Mediterranean cruises in Summer 2019.[xyz-ihs snippet=”bc-inarticle”]
