MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and market leader in Europe, has acknowledged a surge in demand from guests wanting to discover Southern Italy. Naples is now a top highlight on MSC Fantasia’s route planned for next Summer.
“We have enriched the itinerary for MSC Fantasia for next summer in response to the growing popularity of Southern Italy. This is the first time we have planned for a ship to be in Naples for a full day each week for the whole season” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. “By arriving in the morning, we will give our guests plenty of time to go on full-day excursions and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and beauty of this historic region. This will certainly be one of the highlights of this itinerary and we expect to see strong demand for this itinerary.”
Naples is a dream destination for food lovers. Famous for its pizza, coffee and seafood, no trip is complete without sampling the cuisine. Guests can opt to explore the city on their own or book a guided tour shore excursion.

Beyond the City
Amalfi Coast and Ravello – both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, visiting the seaside town of Amalfi and the nearby village of Ravello is a full-day sightseeing excursion. The Amalfi Coast is known for its iconic colourful homes up the steep mountain-side and its azure waters: a great place to sunbathe, swim, enjoy appetisers or sip Limoncello. Ravello, a picturesque village steeped in history dating back to the 5th century A.D. is a great stop for lunch at one of the traditional restaurants before a scenic journey back to the ship.
Capri, Sorrento and Pompeii – visit the island of Capri off the coast of Naples, famous for its upmarket hotels, shopping and celebrity holidaymakers for spectacular views of the sea. Then explore the coastal town of Sorrento before heading back to Naples via Pompeii’s incredible archaeological sites, the third most popular tourist attraction in Italy.
Other Port Calls
MSC Fantasia also calls at two other Italian ports, allowing guests a broader experience of Italian culture. Livorno offers popular excursions to Florence, perfect for those wanting to take in the Renaissance art and architecture, or to Pisa, for a visit to the iconic leaning tower. Genoa, located in the Northwest of Italy is known for being the Italian home of MSC Cruises and for its rich maritime history. Marseille is a metropolitan port city in southern France known for great shopping and white sand beaches. The relaxed Balearic islands of Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza are perfect for unwinding and enjoying the Mediterranean sun.[xyz-ihs snippet=”bc-inarticle”]
