Bringing the EDGE to the fleet
It’s exciting times for Celebrity Cruises’ fans. Even in the lead up to the launch of the highly anticipated, Celebrity EDGE, the cruise line has announced more good news for the fleet. “The Celebrity Revolution” will see an investment of $500 million to update their other ships to bring them in line with Celebrity EDGE. The refurbishments will take place between 2019-2023 starting with Celebrity Millennium.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises, says:
“We launched The Celebrity Revolution to do one thing – transform the way our guests experience the world. It began with the introduction of the industry-changing Celebrity EDGE, and continued with the stunning Celebrity Flora.”
“Our dedication to improving the way guests experience the world knows no bounds. We are taking our entire award-winning fleet to the edge and giving people the vacation they truly deserve.”
Suites onboard will be given a major overhaul which designer Kelly Hoppen describes as “a new and exciting challenge”. Her aim is “to recreate something stylish and luxurious yet totally different from the accommodations that I have designed for Celebrity EDGE. I wanted to evoke a feeling of timeless luxury that welcomed guests into their own haven. Your bedroom is where you sleep and where you wake, two of the most important times of the day, especially when you’re on vacation. It was important to create space, harmony and luxury within a home away from home setting, and I think we achieved that balance perfectly.” The result is described as an East-meets-West vibe with clean lines, neutral tones and a warm, inviting opulence.
New Venues – The Retreat Sundeck and The Retreat Lounge
These exclusive areas will be added fleet-wide for suite guests. The outdoor lounge offers a full-sized pool, hot tubs and poolside butler service.
Celebrity in collaboration with international hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates has redesigned staterooms to feature fresh and on-trend designs that rival the world’s top boutique hotels. Staterooms will have RFID locks, pervasive Xcelerate and Bluetooth capabilities and beds will be fitted with exclusive cashmere mattresses and Celebrity’s eXhale bedding.
“Every detail of our staterooms has been elevated, every comfort refined,” says Brian Abel, Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations. “By the end of Celebrity Revolution, the entire fleet will have the same quality, design essence and consistency of modern luxury, bringing our fleet to the edge.”
The popular speciality dining venue Qsine is to be refined and rolled out fleet-wide. The amazing virtual Le Petit Chef experience that brings your tabletop to life with animation will also be available in the evenings.
Oceanview Café has also undergone refinement and will now be an open, airy, marketplace-inspired venue. Guests will be spoiled for choice amongst mini island buffets of international delicacies. The Main Restaurants will be redesigned and updated with new textures and finishes throughout.
The SEA Thermal Suite which will first debut on Celebrity EDGE, will now also be included in refurbishments on the rest of the fleet offering a large array of spa experiences.
An exclusive new shopping experience with brands and designers such as Shinola, John Hardy and Hublot. A state-of-the-art digital photo gallery for better browsing of your cruise snaps.
Bars and lounges will also receive upgrades. Passport bar has been reimagined and refined and Celebrity’s popular Gastrobar has been expanded to serve 40+ craft beers, impressive cocktails and gourmet comfort foods.
Other public spaces onboard like The Hideaway, Team Earth and The Library are to be given exciting updates.
