Second EDGE-Class ship has first steel cut
Celebrity Cruises’ announced the name of their second EDGE-Class ship and started construction on it today with the official steel-cutting ceremony taking place in Saint-Nazaire, France.
Celebrity Apex as she will be known had her first piece of steel cut in a ceremony with Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. Additionally, Richard Fain, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean in attendance.
When completed, Celebrity Apex will be one of the most modern luxury resort ships at sea.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises, who attended the ceremony accompanied by her leadership team, said: “Welcoming Celebrity Apex into our family with the leadership team was a very special moment, especially when we all signed the ship silhouette cut from the first piece of steel.”

Celebrity Apex is expected to make her debut in spring 2020, with the third and fourth Edge series ships arriving in Late 2021 and Late 2022, respectively.
