Cunard Line ship due £34m refurbishment

Cunard Line’s Queen Victoria will undergo a refurbishment after finishing her Cunard World Voyage in May 2017.

From 5 May to 4 June, she will enter the dry dock for a partial refit at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Sicily. This comprises an upgraded and increased choice of staterooms, new Britannia Club dining, a broader and more distinct bar offering, a transformed sun deck, and several other new features to be revealed soon.

The cruise line recently unveiled previews of the new suites and a glimpse at the Chart Room which is relocating on the ship.

Britannia Club Balconies

Britannia Club accommodation and dining comes to Cunard Line’s Queen Victoria. An introduction of 43 spacious Britannia Club balcony staterooms will be added in a prime mid-ship location on decks 7 and 8, during her refit this May. This allows some of her Princess Grills staterooms to be relocated towards the stern of the ship, where her traditional raked-back will be converted into a straight-back or flat-back stern (like her sister ship, Queen Elizabeth)

Britannia Club Restaurant

Each Britannia Club stateroom will feature all the hallmarks of Cunard style and comfort, but further enhanced with premium balconies, a nine-pillow concierge menu and the freedom to dine whenever you choose in a new Britannia Club restaurant.

All Britannia staterooms on board Queen Victoria are being refurbished this May. Each will feature newly designed carpets and soft furnishings, new flat-screen HD televisions and, by popular request, tea and coffee making facilities. All Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites will also receive interior enhancements during Queen Victoria’s refit to maximise space whilst ensuring unsurpassed levels of elegance and comfort.

During her refit this May, five of Queen Victoria’s elegant, deck 8 aft, Penthouse Suites are being entirely redesigned to create more spacious and sumptuous suites – among the finest accommodation available at sea today. You will then be invited to luxuriate in a secluded haven of space, featuring a private balcony commanding impressive sea views, beautiful bathrooms with whirlpool baths, and your very own butler or concierge who can take care of any details, leaving you free to enjoy a perfect time.

Following Queen Victoria’s refit this May, guests wishing to escape or entertain within their Cunard Grand Suite will discover a host of enhancements. These will include a clever configuration of furniture to maximise comfort and convenience, together with refreshed interior design. The many other appeals of a Cunard Grand Suite include: floor to ceiling windows and doors, a separate snug room with TV, a beautifully-appointed lounge, a master bathroom with sea view, a second bathroom with guest access, a bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling, a walk-in wardrobe with additional storage units, and a generous dual aspect balcony.
