    General information

Silversea Cruises is one of the ultra-luxury cruise lines that operate around the world. They were founded fairly recently in terms of cruise lines, by an Italian family, and to this day are still a small family-led business. They pride themselves on their attention to detail and luxury offerings to passengers.

Their fleet consists of nine ships, with a further one due in 2017. This gives them a combined total of approximately 2,250 berths available for passengers. They pride themselves on offering a near 1:1 ratio of staff:passengers – meaning attention to detail, fine dining, activities on-board and such are at the highest level.

Silversea fares are usually much higher than standard cruise lines but they automatically include everything on the ship, this means you don’t pay anything for alcoholic beverages, room service, restaurant surcharges, wifi or daily tips. Additionally, you also receive at least one complimentary shore excursion at each port visited and each stateroom has their own personal butler.

As their ships are smaller, they visit a lot more unique ports than the bigger cruise lines and this allows them to offer excursions which are fairly exclusive. They visit all 7 continents are over 800 ports each year. Additionally, their ships don’t homeport anywhere and instead spend time (1-2months) in different regions around the world. Common destinations include South America, Galapagos Islands, South Pacific Islands and others.

Each ship is equipped with small Zodiac boats which passengers can take trips to isolated shores, explore wetlands and submerged ecosystems up-close.
